The Speaker starts on 7th April 2009 at 20:00 on BBC Two. The aim (in the BBC’s words) is to find the best young speaker (i.e. from 14 to 18) in the country.

Visit the BBC web site at www.bbc.co.uk/speaker

If you want to acquire skills and confidence to speak effectively in any situation, then Swindon Speakers Club is the place for you. We welcome total novices and those wanting to brush up their public speaking in an atmosphere of friendly encouragement.

We can help you with that:

  • Business meeting

  • Social event

  • Job Interview

  • Presentation

  • Vote of thanks

  • or to practise what you've learnt on a speaking course

We are affiliated to the Association of Speakers Clubs, an organisation with 140 clubs up and down the country that helps people develop and improve their communication skills.

Swindon Speakers Club was established in 1982 and currently has around 20 full members of all ages and backgrounds. After attending two meetings free, you will be asked if you want to join us.

Fees: £40 p.a. plus an initial cost of £10 for the ASC Speakers Guide (see What we Do), if joining after the Christmas break (see Club Calendar) then £5 a meeting. You will receive two free copies of the ASCs' The Speaker magazine a year.
